Canadian Finance Minister Doesn't Understand Basic Economics

It seems like a reporter finally called out a conservative politician on the bullshit argument that "tax cuts pay for themselves". Though we should all be a little bit frightened that our Finance Minster thinks we are on the tail end of the Laffer curve.

It's about time. I can't even believe right-wing politicians have gotten away with this line for so long. I've been consistently frustrated over the media giving completely ridiculous statements a platform just to "be fair". Giving people who deny evolution or global warming a perceived legitimacy is another example. If I was running for major office and claimed that all raccoons were really robots, would the major networks all give my "position" equal consideration and find a pundit to argue it on a roundtable for me?

The sad part is that that is exactly what the press would do. that is their whole business. there isn't even a pretext of being independent fact-checkers anymore. they just report what a candidate says, then bring on a ridiculous panel with extreme partisans to debate it. if you were a republican, george will and ari fleisher would be in that panel front and centre arguing that anyone who doesn't believe racoons are robots are anti-american, latte-drinking faggots.
