Get some rest, then decide

Sorry, Hillary:
"At 3 o'clock in the morning, unless there is a nuclear holocaust coming, there is not much the president has to decide..."

Hello? Her ad isn't meant to be taken literally. Besides reminding folks of her "experience," it's also a battle cry to all the Mondale dems who've forgotten her to get on board with her campaign and forget about the new kid on the block.

Still, an interesting look at what various advisers have deemed important enough to wake presidents up at 3 a.m. So while the ad may not be literal, the situation sometimes is - it's just that she's inflated its importance to give a false idea of why "experience" is valuable.
That said, I do take issue with this one ad becoming a major campaign talking point, just as I take issue with Jeremiah Wright becoming one. It would be so nice to see a campaign that's not primarily about campaigning. That's probably not possible, but a guy can dream.

Yeah, dreams... I'm so sick of this garbage. The media coverage is depressing - criminal even. My dream is that the coverage of this election will prompt loud, beligerent cries for a broader, more comprehensive and better paid public broadcasting program. the fact is, the only good tv coverage has been on the news hour with jim lehrer; on the radio, it's been NPR (tho they've pandered at times). but the sound and video of the news hour are so budg that cnn viewers can't pay attention. CBC and BBC are great examples of sharp public media programs.
